Product Information > Luxury Hotels > Cape Grace, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa > 121 Bedrooms > Grade: Platinum
The Cape Grace commands an iconic site on a private quay opposite a millionaire’s yacht marina, inside Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. On the other side of the hotel is a working dockyard, which creates a wonderful juxtaposition between glamour and reality. All this occurs with a magnificent Table Mountain backdrop which serves to add immense measures of grandeur to the scene, making the Cape Grace one of the most desirable hotels in Cape Town.

There is an emphasis on personalised service at the Cape Grace, evident from the moment you walk in. Individual leather-inlaid desks are where you check in, rather than at an impersonal hotel reception, and the Guest Liaison personnel manning them are at your service for any need throughout your stay. One of the perks of the Cape Grace is their airport pick-up in a chauffeur-driven liveried car and bespoke sightseeing trips where your driver takes you to his special and sometimes secret spots.

Cape Grace has 121 luxurious guest rooms and suites each individually furnished and decorated. Her complete interior re-fashioning of 2008 created a whole new look for the Cape Grace with a set of clothes that reflects the history of the Cape.

The décor draws inspiration from past and present, using skilled artisans to bring to life the seafaring story of the area, with such things as hand-painted drapes and upholstery, a huge collection of valuable Cape artefacts and antique kists.

There are also moments of great humour as you turn to see a huge chandelier dangling not only with crystals but utensils or cups and saucers in a contemporary twist on a traditional item. What distinguishes the Cape Grace interiors is the attention to detail without any seeming effort. This transfers to the feeling of the whole hotel, where care and dedication embody the Cape Grace experience.

This may come in the form of freshly cut flowers and book selections in rooms and monogrammed bath robes and slippers, even for the kiddies. All rooms have a full set of facilities like flat-screen HD satellite televisions, private bar and snack items, room safes big enough for a laptop, WiFi connections and iPod docking stations and Xbox in suites and penthouses. There are two spacious Penthouse Suites with a private rooftop venue, outdoor terrace with jacuzzi and ample walk-in wardrobe. Additionally these guests enjoy bespoke meals including evening canapés and an unpacking service.

Contemporary Cape-fusion cuisine enjoys a reputation for innovation in Cape Grace’s Signal Restaurant. Diners have views up to Signal Hill (from where the noon day gun is fired) and across the water’s edge. Menus and ingredients reflect the hotel’s maritime trading past with French, Dutch, British and Asian influences. While breakfast and lunch are served here, the Cape Grace make it possible for you to dine wherever you wish; soup and snacks in the library, oysters and champagne on the pool deck or private dining in your suite.

Below what you imagine is the main deck, is the Bascule Whisky, Wine & Cocktail Bar, adjacent to the yacht marina. The Bascule prides itself on an array of over 400 world whiskies and wide selection of Cape wines. Membership of the Bascule Whisky Club enables guests to store prized bottles of whisky in their own private cabinet, so it is always there when wanted and ages gracefully in your absence. This facility also applies to wine with personal collections stored in optimum conditions in the Bascule Vinothèque.

The Cape Grace are particularly family-friendly, but never at the expense of other guests and make every effort to accommodate the needs of children. So while parents are enjoying the Spa, with signature massages using African techniques, the kids can be entertained with cooking classes and other inventive ways to keep them enthralled.
