Product Information > Safari> Camp Jabulani, Limpopo Privince, South Africa > 6 Bedrooms > Grade: Diamond
Camp Jubulani is a 100 hectare game reserve specialising in elephant safaris located in Hoedspruit in the Limpopo Province of South Africa near the western border of the Kruger National Park and Drakensberg Mountain range. It also incorporates an endangered species centre. Inevitably the focus in on elephant activities yet all the other regional safari wildlife is to be viewed on game drives. The surrounding vegetation is mixed woodland: acacia, bushwillow, silver clusterleaf and jackalberry amongst tree species. The herd is seventeen strong, being most rescued from Zimbabwe, each possessing distinct personalities. On an elephant-back safari guests are partnered with particular individuals based on temperament.

Treks leave just before sunset and are conducted in single file and facilitate near eye-level encounters with birds and giraffes. One unique offering is the world’s only elephant-back night safari! At night guests can help tenders to ‘’tuck’’ the animals into their stables. In summer, trips to the dam lead to midday swims and mudbaths. Game drives will enable you to witness any number of viewings of over 350 bird species amongst other wildlife. South Africa is blessed in regard to the impressive diversity of wildlife including the largest land-based mammal: the African elephant, the tallest: the giraffe, the fastest: the cheetah, the smallest: the dwarf shrew, the largest non-flying bird: the ostrich and the largest flying bird: the kori bustard.

The famed ‘Big Five’ consist of lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and water buffalo (sometimes supplemented by cheetah and wild dog to make the ‘Big Seven’); visitors aspire to ‘tick off’ as many of these as possible in their viewing list safari journals...try to spot a dazzle of zebra or pod of hippos!, Africa’s second largest land mammal weighing up to three and a half tons.

Another exciting activity is a glide over the reserve on a hot-air balloon at sunrise giving a completely different appreciation of game-viewing and landscape perspective. Alternatively, one can visit the educational Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, a 30 minute drive within the reserve. Guests can otherwise partake of relaxing aromatic oil massages at the Therapy Lapa or indulge in a spa treatment.

The air-conditioned accommodation is in six secluded luxury suites with signature wooden sliding doors opening onto elegant interiors including impressively large free-standing bathtubs and welcoming fireplace lounges. Proximity to the bush is taken advantage of as the outdoors is invited in during the day by leaving the panels open. Private plunge pools allow one to cool off. An open-plan dining room and lounge are part of an extensive wooden deck shaded by a huge leadwood tree. An intricate hanging bridge links this area with the suites which flank a river bed. The new en suite Zindoga Villa is a 424 square metre substantial self-contained facility ideal for families consisting of two connected units sharing a lounge and dining area. Large wooden decks lead to a heated private plunge pool. Guests enjoy a dedicated team for their exclusive use of ranger with vehicle, chef and butler. There is WiFi connectivity.

Owned by the Roode family involving several generations, Camp Jabulani – meaning from Zulu, ‘to celebrate’-is a rich and educational experience; the enthusiastic staff will delight in informing you, amongst other things, that prehensile elephant trunks contain over 100, 000 muscle units...
